Frank Ranew
Senior Vice President, Financial Communications & Issues Management, MS&L Worldwide.Frank Ranew has more than 25 years of experience in financial communications and issues management with global public companies and communication consultancies. He has extensive experience in developing communication strategy, messaging and media opportunities for senior executives as well as working with them on issues that threaten their organizations’ reputations.
Before joining MS&L in Atlanta, Frank was vice president of executive communications for ING Insurance Americas. He worked with ING’s regional and global leaders on media relations in the Americas and Europe. Frank was on the company’s business continuity and crisis preparedness team, and worked with ING leaders in their response to 9/11 and the anthrax scares that followed.
He also has worked with Builders Insurance Group in its proxy battle with a group of dissident policyholders; a major private university on issues threatening its reputation; and with Immucor on its CEO’s bribery trial and outcome in Italy.
Frank counseled an automotive battery company on environmental issues and worked with senior leaders to correct operational shortfalls in several states where the company faced air emissions and groundwater contamination cases.
He formerly was a news editor with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Frank’s international experience includes M&A, financial communications and media relations assignments in Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American markets, and in Canada and Europe.
Dan Greenfield
Dan Greenfield principal of Bernaise Source Media, an Atlanta-based consulting firm that blends the power of new and traditional media to promote brands and manage corporate reputations. His background includes strategic planning, crisis communications, public policy, media relations and competitive market analysis. A former EarthLink corporate communications vice president, Greenfield is a respected industry blogger, an award-winning video producer and has served as a public relations advisor to CEOs and members of Congress.
Carla Shaw
Carla has more than 10 years of technology public relations experience, including six years in corporate communications for EarthLink, one of the nation’s leading Internet service providers. At EarthLink, Carla managed media relations and messaging for the company’s Web applications, Internet voice business unit and its industry-wide Internet security work. She served as EarthLink’s spokesperson for issues related to network outages, e-mail spam and Internet fraud and abuse.
Most recently, Carla worked at Manning, Selvage & Lee public relations, where she managed the media launch of the Equifax I-Card, a digital identity management solution that makes online transactions more secure. The launch included outreach to industry analysts as well as media who cover e-commerce, business technology and mobile applications.
Prior to moving into public relations, Carla was a magazine editor and newspaper reporter.
As part of MS&L’s Corporate Practice, Carla previously managed media relations and planning for EarthLink, Equifax and Inovis, a software provider for the retail industry. Her work has included issues management, strategic planning and consumer technology media relations.
